Oxidation – Nitridation of Ni-Cr-Al Alloys
A series of alloys containing 24-36 wt pct Cr and 13.5 – 25.0 wt pct Al was reacted with air at 1100 °C for 260 h. The products of isothermal reaction were scales of α-Al 2 O 3 plus small amounts of Cr 2 O 3 . These grew according to parabolic kinetics, interrupted by episodic weight losses caused by partial spallation. No nitridation occurred during the isothermal exposures. Reaction during th...
متن کاملCALCULATION OF THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF Al-Fe, Al-Ni AND Ni-Fe ALLOYS USING FACTSAGE
Thermodynamic predicting analysis of three binary systems Al-Fe, Al-Ni and Ni-Fe are shown in this paper. Thermodynamic analysis involved calculation of activities, coefficient of activities, partial and integral values for enthalpies and Gibbs energies of mixing and excess energies at three different temperatures: 1873K, 1900K and 1973K, as well as calculated phase diagrams, for the investigat...
متن کاملMartensitic and Related Transformations in Ni-Al Alloys
The present paper gives a review of results of recent studies investigating the fundamentals of the martensitic and related phase tr-ansformations in Ni-A]. For the former case, the emphasis will be on the microstructure of martensite plates. The latter include the metastable Ni2A1 o-like and stable Ni5A13 bainitic phases. These phases will be discussed in view of their atomic structure, nuclea...
متن کاملElastic constants of bcc Cu-Al-Ni alloys.
We have measured the adiabatic elastic constants of two Cu-Al-Ni martensitic alloys using ultrasonic methods and we have compared the results to recent neutron-scattering experiments. It is shown that the elastic behavior of Cu-Al-Ni alloys follows the same trends exhibited by other Cu-based alloys; in particular, the TA2 long-wavelength acoustic modes are softer than all other modes. Disciplin...
متن کاملHigh-temperature dislocation-precipitate interactions in Al alloys: An in situ transmission electron microscopy deformation study
The fundamental processes controlling the high-temperature interaction of dislocations with precipitates in Al-alloys were investigated in real time by deforming specimens in situ in the transmission electron microscope at elevated temperature. The observations support a bypass mechanism involving the interaction of lattice dislocations with the precipitate–matrix interface dislocations, where ...
